Change management is the process of helping people within an organization adapt to changes. In this course, you will learn about how to provide leadership through the changes that may occur during an emergency. You will also learn about creating a more flexible organizational culture and workplace structure to allow your agency to more effectively face the challenges of emergency response.

This course is part of the Emergency Preparedness Leadership Series. It is meant to stand alone, but you may also take it together with courses on Managing Change and Risk Communication to receive a certificate in Emergency Preparedness Leadership.

This course is easy to take with great content. Remember to check out the course materials under "Resources" for slides and a transcript. It is best viewed in full screen, and you'll be able to pause the course and return as needed.

Human Health Effects of Climate Change

2.50 hours
Following a short overview of the causes and mechanisms of climate change, this informative course reviews current and expected human health impacts, with particular emphasis on impacts in Vermont and the northeast. These include heat-related illness, water-related impacts, vector borne diseases, air quality impacts, and mental health and well-being. Because climate change affects some people more than others, populations of concern and measures of vulnerability are addressed. The course includes plenty of helpful and timely resources, and culminates with examples of strategies used in Vermont and nationally to reduce climate change impacts on health and to improve health through climate change mitigation actions. Learners can select Level 1 for an overview or Level 2 for a deeper exploration of the five types of health impacts.
